Christian Bonnici West, PhD, MSc, BSc (Hons), is a resident academic within the Department of Insurance and Risk Management, Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy at the University of Malta. He also serves as a Non-Executive Director at Bank of Valletta plc, is an active Council member of the Malta Association of Risk Management (MARM), and has contributed to the Maltese National Cyber Security Steering Committee. His research interests cover consent, privacy, fintech, insurtech, surveillance, and Digital Rights Management.

Having over 15 years of expertise in Information Security and Privacy management, spanning various sectors, including national public key infrastructure (PKI) projects, IT compliance in the pharmaceutical industry, and consultancy and auditing, including within a leading Big 4 firm, he delivers information security consultancy and educational services within various contexts, including regulated companies. Dr. Bonnici West also supports consulting firms and professionals interested in expanding their activity within the local and international cybersecurity industries.
