Sharon Cilia Tortell is a Certified Accountant and Auditor specializing in Governance, Risk Management, Sustainability, and Compliance. She is the Chief Risk & Sustainability Officer at TD Cowen – Cowen Insurance Company Ltd. Previously, Sharon served as Chief Officer Internal Audit at MAPFRE Middlesea plc and MAPFRE MSV Life plc, and worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Advisory line, the Malta Financial Services Authority, and European financial working groups. In the insurance sector, she was Head of Risk and Compliance Officer for various insurance entities. Sharon also provided Financial Services Advisory and Consultancy to regulated entities in the private sector. She holds a B.Com and a B.Accty (Hons) from the University of Malta, and an Executive MBA with Distinction. Sharon is a Fellow Member of the Malta Institute of Accountants, Vice & Past-President of the Malta Association of Risk Management & Compliance Officers, a Member of FERMA, and the Malta Institute of Management.
